In Reading Workshop we were learning about the Beginning, Middle, and End of a story. In class we read many books together and discussed and recorded the Beginning, Middle, and End of a story. I had the children choose any book that they would like to read and the complete a graphic organizer, where they had to write the Beginning, Middle and End of a story. This was completely independent work, and I am so proud of what they were able to do. Each child was able to complete the assignment without any significant assistance from a teacher. It was such a pleasure to walk around the room and see the children working with such concentration and enthusiasm. I took some pictures to show off what my kids can do!!!

Some Baking Fun ...
Before the Thanksgiving Holiday Morah Mushky and I thought it would be nice for the children to do something fun and enjoy a special treat that they made all by themselves. We gathered some ingredients and made an apple crisp. Each child had a chance to help prepare the apple crisp for baking. Some of the children cut the apples, others mixed some sugar, and cinnamon. All the children had a chance to sprinkle brown sugar on top before it went into the oven. The class had such a great time. The pictures of my wonderful first grade class are just precious. It is so wonderful to watch the class work so nicely together, that we cannot wait for the next time to bake something.
