Some Baking Fun ...

Before the Thanksgiving Holiday Morah Mushky and I  thought it would be nice for the children to do something fun and enjoy a special treat that they made all by themselves. We gathered some ingredients and made an apple crisp. Each child had a chance to help prepare the apple crisp for baking. Some of the children cut the apples, others mixed some sugar, and cinnamon. All the children had a chance to sprinkle brown sugar on top before it went into the oven. The class had such a great time. The pictures of my wonderful first grade class are just precious. It is so wonderful to watch the class work so nicely together, that we cannot wait for the next time to bake something.

Our Trip to the Prospect Park Zoo..

Last week we went on our second trip to the Prospect Park Zoo. We attended a workshop about Magnificent Mammals, where the children go to meet Harry the Ferret.  During the presentation the children learned about the differences between mammals and non-mammals. After they met Harry, and had a chance to pet him they had a chance to make their own Porcupines. (it was a lot of fun :)
Later we had a chance to walk around the zoo, where we saw a Llama, who really loved the kids, and they kids had some free play time.
